Which stats do people use?

Postby PaulB75 » Thu May 08, 2008 10:36 am

Hi!

I am really new to Pokertracker, and would love some advice on how people use it effectively.

So far I basically look at Volountarily Put in Pot and pre-flop raising percentage to see if people could be playing 45s for example on a 678 board, and if they raise with anything or just premium pairs.

Also, I`m starting to look for people with a low continuation bet % that I can call pre-flop with and take away the pot in position.

Any examples people find especially useful would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Just off the top of my head:
VPIP/PFR as a combination can help tell you what sort of player you're against. A 20/5 and a 7/5 have very different playing styles.
I've used AF (aggression factor) for years, though I'm considering trying to switch to AFq (aggression frequency). They both tell you how aggressive your opponent is; useful if you've been raised and are trying to assess his range (among other things).

I also use ATS (attempt to steal) and if it's very high, I'll 3-bet lighter out of the blinds vs a steal attempt.

I use Folds (SB/BB) to steal once the sample gets large enough; if I find someone w/85%+ I'll steal on them with any two cards.

Continuation bet numbers (how often they make them and how they respond) are quite useful.

At some point I'm going to work in street-by-street numbers and by-position numbers, but I've been a bit too busy lately to put a lot of effort in . . .

Hope that helps!
