PHud not accessing the internet to register

Postby SixofClubs » Mon Feb 16, 2009 12:13 pm

Have been using Hud with PTO for a few weeks, no problems. Late last night I renewed my Zonealarm AV + Firewall software subscription.
Tried launching PHud this morning but it seems to have reverted to the trial version. All attempts at entering my reg code give me the "your registration needs updated" msg, quoting todays date. Now I've resinstalled the orig and the beta version of PHud both with the same result. I've also gone into Zonealarm to check the program controls for PAHud.exe and its set to allow internet access. I closed Zonealarm and restarted it, and have also clicked "allow" on the little popup that asked if I wanted to allow PAHud to access the internet. Still the same, also turned my firewall off and no joy there either. Had no other issues with any applications and PAHud seems to work correctly for 1 table, but it just wont let me register the thing, even though it has been registered for almost a month.
I'm stuck... :!:

Please double check that the date is correct on your computer - that can cause problems if it is wrong.
I think there was a brief outage of the registration server last night but it's OK now as far as I know - I'll check with the development team, so please try it agian in a while. If you continue to have trouble in an hour or two, please post back.

EDIT: Additional thought - if you are using Vista, check that you still have PAH set to run as Administrator; and maybe try with UAC turned off.
ATTENTION: Windows VISTA users, you must read this...

Thanks for the reply. Have already checked the date, 16 Feb 2009, i am running XP so no vista issues.
Have rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled but still no luck. Also if I click help -> topics or help -> about -> click here to register it will access ie and load the internet page correctly, which to me seems it has the necessary permission to connect to the internet, it just wont allow the registration process to complete. have tried on both 1.19.7 beta and 1.18.

is there anything else i can try?

edit = if i put in random text in the reg code field it thinks for a bit and returns invalid code, which again suggests it must be connecting to something,

Sorry to ask the obvious, but have you put your actual registration code in the reg code field?
What happens then? Does it think for a while then too? Do you get an error message then?

In case you don't have it..
Rerequest your PAHUD Key

putting in a bogus code like xxxxx definitely takes longer for an error msg to return invalid code than it does putting in the correct code which returns the registration updated msg almost immediately.

You think it would be worthwhile requesting a new code? Should I put my current one in this email or contact you directly?

Thanks

Please enable logging, reproduce the problem (enter your real code) and send the PAHud.log file via the Support system so that we can send you a new license file.

Hello there. Getting same error code as other people: "Your registration needs update. Please verify that today is Feb. 19, 2009 and allow PokerAce Hud to connet ot the internet in order to update your registration."

However, I can no longer find the log file. I had found it before, but then did the reboot in safe mode/uninstall/reboot normal/reinstall thing, and now it doesn't exist, even after trying to start PAH several times.

Have turned off the antivirus and disabled MS Windows Firewall.

Have requested a new registration code, but haven't received the email. Have searched my spam box, no luck.

Setting my CPU clock back to Jan 1st does work, but I would like a more permanent solution.

Thanks!

The log file is rewritten when you restart PAHUD. Please make sure logging is enabled, restart PAHUD and attempt to register while your date is set normally. Let it fail and then the log file will be there. If you're running Windows Vista you may need to disable UAC though (Tutorial: Vista-How to Disable 'User Account Control' (UAC))

I am having exactly the same problem.

Should I also create a log file, or is there now a generic solution?

Please help

Please create the log file as well; that problem happened as a result of our registration server going down. It's been fixed and is back up and if you can't connect to it we need the log in order to manually generate a license file for you so you don't need to connect to the registration server in the future.
